I had stop writing this blog

I'm sorry to tell my readers that I had to stop posting. I'm too busy at the moment and don't find the time to write. I'm moving to another country, starting a new job and also pregnant and that's more than enough for me.

I hope I can come back soon.

Cheers,
Liria

Apple & Coffee jam

Here it is something special for coffee lovers. Last week my friend Javi brought me a bag of apples from his parents garden. I didn´t have time to eat all of them before they get overripe so it was a perfect situation for jam making. I had a bunch of organic apples grow with love and a free afternoon. I´m a coffee lover although I can not have caffeine. It makes me really nervous, even small quantities affect me so I only have a coffee with milk from while to while. I know there is decaffeinated coffee everywhere but you understand me, it´s not the same.

Haven´t you tried yet preparing homemade jam? Come on what are you waiting for? It´s so gratifying  eating your own jam, you can do it with your favourite fruit and play with the flavors. It´s also a really good present, we are very close to Christmas and people really appreciate receiving something made with love and that can be eaten. It will not end up in the back of a drawer.

This jam has a very different flavor, soft and intense at the same time. It´s perfect for a breakfast with toasted bread and butter. Hope you like it.

Raspberry Sorbet with Albariño wine

It feels like winter and Christmas is just around the corner. Everything is ready for it to come, the Christmas lights are installed in the streets, the shops changed their decoration to red and golden colors and everyone is starting to get busy thinking about presents, parties and so on.

As you may know it happens that every year we plan doing many things and at the end only have time to do a few. We are a big family and preparing food for everyone requires time so we try to look for easy recipes with great results. This raspberry sorbet with albariño is super quick to prepare, only 2 ingredients and a food processor are required. I think it´s a good option if you, like me don´t want to complicate your life but at the same time love enjoying good food a drinks.

Usually, my mother and I share a glass of wine or a cocktail while cooking the Christmas meal. It´s a very special day for us as we also celebrate her birthday party. Last year it was limoncello cream, this year I want something with raspberries, they are our favorites and she loves ice cream too so maybe a sorbet is a good idea. I have been googling the words "raspberry" and "cocktail" but didn´t convinced me what I found, I want something very special for her. I´ve come out with a Raspberry Sorbet with Albariño, which is a locally produce wine. It has a beautiful light golden color and fruity flavor that matches perfectly with the raspberries. I hope she likes it.

La Granja bean soup with clams

It´s being really hard moment for everyone in the shipyard now, also for me. I need to finish this job and start with something new. Cooking helps me to forget about everyday problems so that´s what I try to do during my free time. I spend hours trying new dishes and mastering old ones. During the last days I´ve also being doing bread. Flours are one of my favorite ingredients to work with. It makes my really happy to take a loaf of bread from the oven, it´s something magic. I opened an Instagram account where I´m sharing pictures from my everyday life, link here.

Last week my friend Pilar told me that she was going to eat to her parent´s place. Her mother cooked fabes con almejas the traditional Asturian dish from where I got inspiration for today´s recipe. I though that I could try doing a quick version of it by using canned cooked beans instead of dry ones. I coudn´t find canned fabe beans so I used other variety called Granja. They are a bit smaller than the fabes but anyway big, tender and with an intense white color.

Food Photography by Nicole S. Young

It´s been close to a year since I started getting interested into food photography. Photography was something that I don´t know why but I always rejected to learn. I never had a camera and never try to take a beautiful picture. If I had to because someone asked me to take him/her a picture a just used to click the button and don´t care about many things that know I do care and I try to do my best. I use to travel without camera, most of the time I was lucky and someone else travelling with me sent me later a few pictures, anyway there are many moments from which I don´t have those memories.

I still don´t own a camera, I use Fran´s Canon EOS 1000D and my phone. He likes taking pictures but it is not his main hobby. I don´t have any interchangeable lens, all my pictures are done with the 18-55 mm that came with the camera though I plan to by me a 50 mm by next month. That will be my first acquisition.
